Genesis 1:26-27: Is Man Created by God or an Evolved animal?
Which Foundation of Faith will you choose to find life?
- The Revelation of an omniscient God: “In the Beginning God created” (Gen. 1:26-8; 2:7; Rev. 4:11). How? By Infinite Wisdom & Power. If true, we are special; life has eternal value, morals, meaning & purpose.
- The Theory of ignorant men: In the Beginning nothing created something; then something evolved itself into everything. How? By Time & Chance without intelligence. If true you are an accident; life has no value, morals meaning or purpose.

“God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: & let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, & over the fowl of the air, & over the cattle, & over all the earth, & over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male & female created he them.” (Gen 1:26-27)
We Must Know Our True ‘Roots’ as a Human Being
Are we a unique Being created in the image of God or are we are nothing more than animals? Most Youth (14 to 24) consider the #1 evidence for evolution to be the apes to man evolutionary sequence! ONE BIG REASON – the most famous ‘icon’ of Evolution: The March of Progress, in Time Life 1965, 1968, 1973. The Figure’s Caption cautioned readers it was Fictitious! The picture, based on “fragmentary fossil evidence,” warns: “Although proto-apes & apes were quadrupedal, all are shown here standing” (Time Life 1970, p. 40). The image became a masterpiece of Madison Avenue promotion (not science!). The science community knew it was fictitious! “Many of the figures…are products of educated guessing” (F.C. Howell, Early Man, Time Life Books, p. 41, 1970). The “evolutionary ‘march to modern man’ has been proven wrong for more than 60 years.” But it’s still used by scientists, writers & media. (Tim White, Paleoanthropology: five’s a crowd in our family tree, Current Biology 23(3):R112-R115, 2013). Such icons indoctrinate us in materialistic Philosophy. They knew the deceptions in 1965 but only now admit: “The once-popular fresco showing a single file of marching hominids becoming ever more vertical, tall, and hairless now appears to be fiction” (J.J. Hublin, An evolutionary odyssey, Nature 403:363-364, 27 Jan. 2000). (Read Jeremiah 17:5-7; Psalm 118:8.)
Ramapithecus was #5 on the diagram. Considered an ape/human ancestor from 1932-1978. The Evidence: 2 parts of a single upper jaw. David Philbeam & Elwyn Simons admitted their errors were due to a pre-commitment to the Darwinian view of human origins. They said: “we found exactly what we expected to find.” “This occurs often because of the uncertainty of interpreting fragmentary anatomy in fossils.” So they made up fairy tales about ‘Rama’ in the name of science
Paleoanthropologists being heavily influenced by personal beliefs & prejudices is well documented. It is often nothing more than materialistic philosophy disguised as modern empirical science (Jonathan Wells, Icons of Evolution: Science or Myth?, 2000, p. 210, 218, 219-220, 221, 222-223, 224-225)
6 Reasons ‘hominid’ fossils are called ‘bones of contention:’
- Incredibly few Fossils, most in a poor state of preservation, leaves a lot of room for interpretation (very subjective).
- Scientists can be self-deceived into seeing what they want to see. Tremendous pressure to find something important to gain funding & fame (R. Lewin, Bones of Contention, 1987, p. 26-28, 44-45)
- Fraud is a “a serious deeply rooted problem” especially in the field of evolution” (Jerry Bergman, Evolution’s Blunders, Frauds & Forgeries, 2017: especially Chapt. 2 & 18).
- Bone specimens can be reconstructed in a variety of ways (‘skull 1470’ was pieced together from 100’s of fragments.
- Ignoring variation between people in a given population led to little differences often interpreted as a new species (Roger Lewin, Bones of Contention, 1987, p. 27)
- Fossils cannot establish ancestor-descendant relationships. The few bones used to construct man’s evolutionary history is like reconstructing the plot of ‘War and Peace’ (1,400 pgs.) with 13 randomly selected pages!
The supposed millions of years separating fossils prohibits saying anything definite about evolutionary links (ancestry & descent)!
Contrast Biblical Genealogies!!! Genealogies anchor the entire O.T. into eyewitness history! [Buy a 27ft. “Adams Chart of History”]. What an astonishing contrast of the unbroken Biblical genealogies & the fragmented fairy tale genealogies of atheistic evolutionists. The 1st is a record of life: Real names of living People. The 2nd is a record of death! Made up names of fossils! (read Deuteronomy 30:19)
Evolution is ‘materialistic philosophy’ & soft science masquerading as hard empirical science. Their “theories have often said far more about the theorists than they have about what actually happened” (Roger Lewin, Bones of Contention: Controversies in the Search for Human Origins, 1987, p. 43). First they construct a story (narrative) about what they believe happened in the past (i.e.Darwinism). The historical narrative then becomes the framework for interpreting the evidence. “Everybody knows fossils are fickle; bones will sing any song you want to hear.” (Jim Shreeve, Argument over a woman, Discover 11(8):58, 1990)
Fossil Teeth: taking a bite out of evolutionary theory.
Because teeth preserve so well, they are excellent for evaluating whether Darwinism is true or not. Much of the evidence for the evolution of vertebrates is provided by teeth (Jerry Bergman, Peter Line, Apes as Ancestors: Examining the Claims About Human Evolution, 2020, pg. 47-55). Millions of fossil teeth have been studied & not 1 provides clear evidence of macroevolution. A computer search of 20 million articles showed: “…no evidence of transitional tooth forms between the no-tooth condition & completely developed teeth has been discovered” (Jerry Bergman, Fossil Forensics: Separating Fact from Fantasy in Paleontology, 2017, Chapt. 2 Teeth, p. 25-28, 33)
In 1927, 1 tooth was all Davidson Black needed to ‘imagine’ a new genus: Sinanthorpus pekinensis or Peking man. Teeth still drive the desire for fame & funding. A few teeth found 1995 were named a new species: Australopithecus bahrelghazali, by Brunet. Now its doubted!
So many know so much about so little! How long will you let fossil teeth take a bite out of your faith? The 8 best candidates for ape/man missing links are all highly controversial, hotly debated by scientists & ultimately prove to be nothing more than the imagination of paleontologists. They find 2 kinds of fossil bones: ‘Australopithecus’ are more ape like; & ‘Homo’ bones are more like humans. Because of their so called 1 million yr. overlap both kinds of bones often found together.
- Homo neandertalensis or Neanderthal man. Now there are about 500 skeletons. Generally, paleoanthropologists regard them as an extinct variant of man. Several DNA analyses now show Neanderthals & modern humans are the same species. (Christopher Rupe & John Sanford, Contested Bones, 2019, pg. 31-53).
- Homo erectus (“upright man”) (Java Man). 300 Erectus bones: most are skullcaps, a few broken bones or teeth. They had an extensive culture of woodworking, art, sailing ships! Erectus is clearly human with evidence of pathologies. (Christopher Rupe & John Sanford, Contested Bones, 2019, pgs. 55-77). Turkana Boy (homo ergaster): most complete Erectus skeleton is almost identical to modern Kenyan bushman!
- Homo floresiensis (Hobbit). Evidence suggest they are fully human. Share skeletal features with modern pygmies still living nearby.
- Ardipithecus ramidus or “Ardi.” Found by Tim White in Ethiopia (1992). Not published till 2009! The skull was crushed to 100 pieces, as was the hip so had to be digitally reconstructed involving uncertainty & guesswork! The well preserved hands & feet match living apes. The living bonobo looks just like Ardi. Tim White proclaimed he found the missing link between human & ape [Nature 1994]. - Australopithecus afarensis or “Lucy.” Skeleton found by Donald Johanson (Ethiopia, 1974). 400 bones total. There’s an unresolved debate over ‘lumping’ all the bones into one afarensis ape species or ‘splitting’ them into 2 species: one human/one ape. Media & Textbooks mislead the public with only Johanson’s view, that Lucy is the ape that stood up.
- Homo habilis (handy man). Found by the Leakey’s in 1960. Just a pitifully few mangled bones. Announced in 1964, it threw the field of human evolution into a turmoil continuing till today! “Homo habilis is an all-embracing ‘wastebasket’ species into which a whole… variety of fossils could be conveniently swept.” (Tattersall & Schwartz, Extinct Humans, 2002, p. 111). No one knows if Habilis is a real species. (Jerry Bergman, Peter Line, Apes as Ancestors: Examining the Claims About Human Evolution, 2020, p. 169-214). [the research has 344 references]
- Australopithecus sediba. Found by Lee Berger in 2008. National Geographic (4.12.2013) said it could dethrone Lucy as our most recent ancestor. Some experts claim Sediba is not a legitimate hominin ancestor but a combination of Australopithecus & Homo bones. The bones found in a pit mixed with 1000’s of bones from 18 species. So it’s easy to unintentionally mix bones of different species. Especially when you are motivated to find an ‘in-between’ creature! Sediba “is not a missing link”

- Homo naledi. Found 2013 S. Africa. Lee Berger investigated & announced the find as the root ancestor to the genus Homo. Most of the bones were human like & ones that deviated can be due to pathologies. (Christopher Rupe & John Sanford, Contested Bones, 2019, p. 199-232).
Only a truckload or shoebox of evidence!
“You could fit it all into the back of a pickup truck…” (Ian Tattersall quote in Bill Bryson, A Short History of Nearly Everything, 2004, p.440). Our genus homo has only a few fossil fragments older than 2 million yrs.
“There are only a handful of specimens. You could put them into a small shoe box & still have room for a pair of shoes” (William Kimbel quoted by Fischman, National Geographic, Aug. 2011). Evolutionists acknowledge: according to Darwin “the fossil record should be rife with examples of transitional forms…from the less to the more evolved.” But there are “only gaps in the fossil record & no evidence of transformation intermediates between documented fossil species” (Jeffrey H. Schwartz, Sudden Origins, 1999, p 89). So the Revelation of God is True! “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him” (Gen 1:27). And the “vain imaginations of man are false!” (Rom. 1:21, 25)
