Dear Friends at 5C:
I am sitting in Mariners Church (in Newport Beach) to write this letter to you. The wildfire continues to rage in the backyard of Irvine, a beautiful city now covered with smoke and fire. It is so true, no lack of surprise this year! Please pray for those communities who lost homes or lives during this disaster.
Last Saturday the deacon board held a leadership retreat through Zoom. In spite of the pandemic this year, we have so much to thank God for His blessings to our church. As the leadership is planning church ministry for the next year, we all look forward to returning to the church. Meanwhile we will continue to develop online ministry through Zoom small group meetings. We will communicate the church vision in detail during our ACM meeting in December.
There is only one week left until the presidential election on Nov 3, Many of us have already casted our votes through mails. Please pray for our nation and this election. Last Thursday Annie Shi-Mu led the group praying for the revival of our country. May the Lord protect this country, there will be a peaceful election in the coming days.
Please pray for Anderson Lin who will have a pancreatic surgery this Friday. In addition, Liu, Fang plans to move back to China for good, and she will leave on Nov 8. Please pray for her journey ahead and wish her good luck in another chapter of her life. Lydia Anderson was diagnosed with resurgent brain tumor, please pray for God’s healing and her upcoming treatment.
Ministry Update:
- Virtual prayer meetings at 7:30pm Monday and Thursday
- Pastor Chen’s virtual office hours 10:00am-12:00pm Every Friday
- Chinese Sunday school (Pastor Chen) and English Sunday school (Rachel Ma)
- Small group Joy will have a group meeting at 7:30pm on Friday Oct 30.
- We will have a holy communion this Sunday 11/1.
- A group of brothers and sisters plans to get together again outdoors on Nov 1.
- The deacon board decides that our church will reopen once SLO county moves to the orange tier

- Pray for the US presidential and general election in November, 2020.
- Pray for the Coronavirus outbreak in the US and around the world.
- Pray for the deacon retreat on 10/24 to plan church ministry in 2021.
- Pray for the physical and spiritual well-being of our church members.
- Pray for Lydia Anderson who suffers brain tumor and waits for surgery.
- Pray for Samuel Lee’s epidermal inclusion cyst on his back, waiting for surgery date to remove it
- Pray for expecting mother- Crystal Cui
- Pray for Annie’s sister and Anderson’s brother who suffer Parkinson’s disease.
- Pray for Crystal’s uncle in South Korea, Ed Sherman’s son Lane who undergoes treatment for brain cancer.

我此刻正坐在 Mariners Church 寫這封信。山火繼續在爾灣的後山肆虐， 一座美麗的城市，如今已被濃煙覆蓋。今年的確不乏「驚奇」！請為在這場災 難中失去房屋及生命的社區祈禱。
上星期六，執事會通過 Zoom 舉行了年度領袖會議。儘管今年有疫情的傳 播，但我們仍然要感謝上帝對我們教會的祝福。教會領袖們正在計劃明年的教 會事工，我們也都期待著回歸教堂。與此同時，我們將繼續通過 Zoom 小組聚會 發展在線事工。我們將在 12 月的年度會員大會上詳細傳達教會發展的願景。
距離 11 月 3 日的總統選舉只有一周的時間了，我們許多人已經通過郵寄 的方式投票。請為這個國家和此次選舉祈禱。上週四，裴師母帶領禱告會﹐為 美國的複興祈禱。願主保佑這個國家，保佑未來幾天的和平選舉。
請為林恩深弟兄祈禱，他將於本週五進行胰腺手術。另外，劉芳姐妹計劃 回到中國永久居住，她將於 11 月 8 日離開美國。請為她的未來祈禱，並祝她生活順利。馮慶芳姐妹被診斷患有腦瘤復發，請為神醫治及她隨後的治療祈禱。
事工更新:
- 線上禱告會於週一和週四晚間 7 點半舉行。
