The Glory of The Omniscient God (Isa. 40:13-14; Psalm 139-1-4)

God is all (omni) knowing (science = knowledge): God instantly knows everything all the time.  “Shall any teach God knowledge?” (Job 21:22; Rom. 11:34).  Omniscience is 1 of God’s Self Existent attributes.

“Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counselor hath taught him? (Isa. 40:14)  With whom took he counsel, & who instructed him, & taught him in the path of judgment, & taught him knowledge, & shewed to him the way of understanding?” (Isa. 40:13-14)

The answer to all these questions is an obvious “no one!”

Only The Creator of all things knows all that can be known

God created everything: Every molecule of everything; every atom of every molecule; every electron & proton of every atom!  Thus He knows the What, Where, Why & How of every single thing that exists! (Gen. 1:1; Isa. 40:25-26; 42:5; 45:12, 18; Rev. 10:6).
God knows everything instantly & perfectlyGod knows every item of knowledge about everything that exists, or existed anywhere in the universe at any time in the pastOr that may exist in eternity yet to come.  God knows everything instantly & perfectly all the time.  He can never misjudge because of faulty knowledge.
God is Omniscient because His Knowledge is Infinite.
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom & knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments & his ways past finding out!” (Rom 11:33).  Thus only by direct Revelation from God can we know the Truth of our final Judgment: Do I face the glory of heaven or the terrors of hell?
The Scriptures reveal the Omniscience of God with Those Mysterious 7 Eyes of Zech. 3:9; 4:10 & Rev.5:6.   The stone symbolizing the LORD has 7 eyes & the glorified Lamb has “7 eyes which are the Spirits of God.”  7 is the # of perfection symbolizing God’s perfect vision & knowledge. God who sees everything must Know Everything!
Thus God’s omniscience is sometimes expressed as His ability to see all” (Job 34:21; 31:4; 2 Chron. 16:9; Prov. 5:21; Jer. 16:7; 32:19)
Thou God seest me” (Gen. 16:13-14; 31:42; 2Chron. 16:9; Pro. 15:3).

Illustration: Jesus supernaturally sees Nathanael (John 1:48-49)

The O.T. Prophets had Access to the Omniscience of God.      The king of Syria was told: “Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber”
(2 Kings 6:8-12; Lk. 12:2-5; Amos 3:7; Heb. 11:7; Acts 27:24).
Old Testament Prophesy is proof the Prophets accessed God’s Omniscience.  God’s Omniscience is irrefutably & concretely manifest in 1000’s of Fulfilled Biblical Prophecies!

God warns us:
“Because I knew that thou art obstinate… I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, mine idol hath done them…” (read Isaiah 48:3-5)

FULFILLED BIBLICAL PROPHECIES PROVE GOD’S OMNISCIENCE!

“Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods… (24)  Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.” (Isaiah 41:23-24)

Notice God’s rebuke of anyone who worships a god that is not omniscientWhy would anyone worship an ignorant god?

THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS (Written 150 – 200 B.C.)
God did an amazing thing for us by preserving these Scrolls
Every Book of the O.T. was found except for Esther.  When they were discovered after WWII God totally destroyed the faithless arguments of Bible Critics. Why?  Because Prophesy is an infallible proof of the Divine inspiration of the Bible!  To prove prophesy all you need a written record recorded long before the prophecies were fulfilled which we now have in the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Then you need a written historical record that proves the Prophecies were fulfilled as previously written.  This we have in the New Testament.  We actually have fragments of the Gospel of John dated 125 A.D.  The N.T. records the fulfillment of 100’s of O.T. Prophecies thus proving the supernatural nature of the Bible!

WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW THE FUTURE?
Who wouldn’t want to know their own eternal destiny?  Do you know for sure without a doubt where you are going when you die?  (If you don’t how can you have peace?).  The Omniscient Creator God knows!  He says we can know for sure if we have Eternal Life (study John 20:30-31; I John 5:10-13)

Only the Omniscient God knows the Purpose for Everything
Because God planned everything He knows the “Why” & Purpose for everything (Eph. 1:9, 11; Act 4:28; 2Tim. 1:9; Job 23:13-4; Isa 14:24)
Jesus is God’s Ultimate Purpose: “Everything in Heaven & Earth will be gathered together ‘in Christ’” (Eph 1:10; Phil. 2:9-10).  If you don’t know Jesus & aren’t living for Him you are missing your great purpose for life!  And you will miss a glorious eternity after this life!

SCIENTISTS MUST ADMIT THEIR IGNORANCE!
There are other sources of knowledge besides Science.
A helpful illustration is an analogy of Aunt Martha’s chocolate cake with God’s good Creation.  Aunt Martha’s chocolate cake is given to Top scientists to analyze & determine every detail of its “physical” makeup.  They ask & answer many of theWhat, Where, When, & Howquestions of the cakeBut they never deal with theWho” & “Why” questions.  In fact Modern Science forbids you to ask the “Who” question!  Thus they can never answer the ultimate “Why” questions of life.  Not one scientist can tell us “who” baked the Cake (Aunt Martha) Or “Why” she baked the cake!  Or for what purpose she made it… unless they talk to Aunt Martha in person.
Likewise how many scientists will discuss who made the Heaven & earth?  Political Correctness prevents them from asking the most important questions in Life! Thus Science can’t tell you the real reason you exist or why!  Only Martha can tell why she made her cake & for what purpose.  Only God can tell us why He Created everything and for what purpose.  (He does this in His Bible!).  “God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God” (I Cor. 2:9-10).

Who Knew it first? The Omniscient God or Ignorant Scientists?
God Revealed Lifesaving Scientific Facts in the Bible 100’s & 1000’s of years before science discovered them.  In Leviticus chapt. 13 & 14 (1445 BC) we have Laws of quarantine to control contagious diseases.  Science doesn’t start doing this until the 1800s.
Leviticus 15:1-13 (1445 BC) reveals life-saving Laws of Hygiene (washing)  to prevent disease that science doesn’t accept until the 1900s.  Deuteronomy 23:13 reveals a Law of sanitation for the Military that Science rejected till modern times.

Who Designed it first? The Omniscient God or Ignorant Scientists?
God reveals His brilliant Omniscience in the things He Created.
The emerging science of “Biomimicry” (Biomimetics) is finally tapping into God’s Omniscience revealed in nature to make scientific progress.
n the 1930’s Richard Kerr got the idea for wide low pressure Tires for the desert from the Camel.  In the 1940’s George de Mestral got the idea for Velcro from cockleburs.  Igor Sikorsky designed the 1st working helicopter from observing the dragonfly.  Frank Fish is improving wind turbines by studying the humpback whale fin.  Rene-Antoine Ferchault de Reaumur observed that wasps’ nests were paper made from wood and came up with the idea of making paper from wood.  About 100 yrs. latter they started mass producing paper from wood.
Who designed “jet propulsion” first?  Jet engines date from the 1930s.  The Squid & octopus had the idea long before!

JESUS IS THE OMNISCIENT CREATOR (John 1:1-3; Col. 1:16)
Jesus demonstrated His Omniscience on many occasions (John 21:17; Matt. 9:4).  He knew everything that would happen to Him:
(John 19:28; Matt. 16:21; 17:22-23; 26:21, 31; Mk. 10:33-34).  Jesus prophesied the Future as perfectly as God did in the O.T.  Jesus prophesied His own death by crucifixion & resurrection (Matt. 20:19; Mk. 9:31; 10:34; 26:2; Luke 18:33; 24:7).  Jesus gave us many “End Times Prophecies” that are in place today! (Matt. 24; Luke 24:5-36)
Jesus is theall-knowingGod.  Jesus “knows all things” (John 16:30; 18:4; 21:17).  Jesus is omniscient: (Matt. 9:4; John 2:24-25; 4:16-19, 25-26; 18:4).  Jesus knew the good heart of Nathaniel (John 1:45-51).  Jesus knew the lustful heart of the woman at the well (John 4:16-9).  Jesus knew the evil heart of Judas’ (John 6:64, 70-71) (Matt. 9:4).  Jesus knows the secrets of our heart and He will judge the secrets of men (John 5:21-23; Rom. 2:16).

LIFE CHANGING PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS
These truths should be a cause of great terror to those who have something to hide from God! (2 Cor. 5:10-11; Job 34:21-22; Jer. 16:17; 32:19).  “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Heb. 10:31).  Why?  Because God holds me accountable for every thought!  “For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether” (Ps 139:4).  Jesus said: “That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”

(Matt 12:36).   God “will render to every man according to his deeds.   Tribulation & anguish, upon every one that does evil.  But glory, honor, & peace, to every man that worketh good” (Rom. 2:6, 9-10).

God’s Omniscience Gives Believers Great Hope for it guarantees us a perfect & eternal salvationBecause God is Omniscient He knew every sin I would ever commit even before I was born!  Thus He could prepare a Perfect salvation through Christ’s death on the Cross!

Because God is Omniscient we must strive to know & live according toGod’s Good & Perfect Will.” God created us for an eternal glorious purpose (Col. 1:9-13).  God designed & gifted us specifically so you can fulfill His purpose for His Glory (Eph. 1:9-12).  I will find my God given Purpose through God’s Word & Spirit!

IMPACT OF GOD’S OMNISCIENCE ON PRAYER

I need to stop trying to hide my sins from God. Only sins that are confessed are forgiven (I John 1:8-10). I must trust God in every circumstance of life no matter how hard.  His wisdom plans the best way & His Sovereignty will accomplish it the best way of guiding my life.  So I surrender my imperfect will to God’s perfect will (Matt. 6:10).
