Dear Friends at 5C:
On Sunday our church holds an installation ceremony for seven deacons or deaconesses of this year. What a holy moment! The whole church gathers together to lay our hands (virtually) on these godly men and women. It is a sacred privilege to serve the Lord, and it is a great honor to be His servants. Thank God for our church leaders who have demonstrated Christ-like characters in faithfully serving the church as well as brothers and sisters in the midst of the pandemic! May the Lord continue to empower them to become the channel of God’s grace in the year of 2021.
This Monday SLO county begins to administer shots of COVID-19 vaccines for people who are 75 & older. For those living in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara county will also offer the vaccination in a few days. We are so glad that some of our members are able to secure the appointments in the first group. More vaccine appointments are expected to become available later this week. For those who have serious medical conditions, it is recommended to consult your family doctor before taking the vaccines. If you need help to register online, please contact Raymond or Bianca who continues to keep us informed about the rolling progress.
Please pray for Lim’s family, Kam and Beng Lim were infected with COVID-19. Now they are receiving an antibody treatment. Hopefully this will help them effectively fight the virus. Their son KC is hospitalized in need of oxygen. Praise the Lord that he is stable now. Your prayer and support for this family is highly appreciated in this critical time.
Please continue to wear masks in public, keep social distance when meeting with people outside your household, and wash hands frequently and thoroughly. Even after one receives the vaccine, there is no good reason to lower these safety guards until the whole society reaches the herd immunity sometime later this year.
Ministry Update:
- Church prayer meeting (in Chinese) is scheduled at 7:30pm every Thursday
- Pastor Chen’s virtual office hours is scheduled at 10:00am-12:00pm every Friday
- Small group “Grace Garden” will meet at 6:00pm Tuesday 1/19 through Zoom
- Chinese Sunday school (Meiling Lacson) and English Sunday school (Rachel Ma)
- We will continue the sermon series on “the Book of Galatians” this Sunday 1/24
- Our church will hold a special program to celebrate Chinese New Year on 2/14

- Pray for the peaceful transition and reconciliation after this divisive election
- Pray for the Coronavirus outbreak in the US and around the world
- Pray for the physical and spiritual well-being of our church members
- Pray for new small groups formed recently in our church
- Pray for Cal Poly students who return to campus in January, 2021.
- Pray for College student returning to campus this spring semester, Amanda Chen (Saint Louis University), Hannah Guan (Barnard College), and Jenny Zhan (Santa Clara University)
- Pray for Lim’s family who contracted COVID-19 recently, Beng, Kam and KC are all in the process of recovery.
- Pray for expecting mother- Crystal Cui
- Pray for Lydia Anderson’s resurgent brain tumor
- Pray for Annie’s sister and Anderson’s brother for Parkinson’s disease, Ed Sherman’s son Lane for brain tumor

本週一,SLO 縣開始為 75 歲及以上的人群注射新冠疫苗。對於住在聖瑪麗亞的弟兄姐妹,聖塔芭芭拉縣也將在未來幾天內提供疫苗接種。很高興,教會中的一些人能夠首批預約接種。預計本週晚些時候將開放更多的接種預約。對於那些患有嚴重疾病的人,建議您在注射疫苗之前,諮詢醫生的建議。如果您在線註冊時需要幫助,請聯繫胡其健弟兄或張西齡姐妹,他們將繼續為我們提供最新的信息。
請為林家人祈禱,林明源弟兄及陳金梅姐妹確診感染了新冠肺炎。目前他們正在接受抗體治療。希望這將幫助他們有效對抗病毒。他們的兒子 KC 因需要輸氧已住院。感謝主,他現在已經基本穩定。在這個關鍵時期,非常感謝您對這個家庭的祈禱和支持。請大家繼續在公共場所佩戴口罩,在與家庭以外的人會面時保持社交距離,養成勤洗手的好習慣。即使在接種疫苗後,也請完全遵循這些公共健康措施,或許要到今年下半年,美國達到群體免疫的某個時候。
